What Sounds Can We Make with Different Materials?

Materials:

• Glue sticks

• Paper or cardboard

• Tissue paper, foil, cotton, fabric, leaves, etc.

• Small containers or trays

Instructions:

• Introduce the materials and let children touch, scrunch, tear, and explore the sounds they make

• Ask: “What does this sound like?” (e.g., rain, wind, crunchy leaves)

• Invite children to tear, crumple, and stick materials onto paper to create a collage

• Encourage children to listen to the sounds as they work and connect them to their artwork

• Invite children to share their collage and describe the sounds they heard while creating
