Sit in a circle and present the microphone. Explain that the microphone is used to help speak up clearly and loud enough for us to be heard.
Practice having a good posture by singing and mimicking: I’m gonna keep my head up and shoulders back, look at the person in front and use a strong and friendly voice, I’m gonna speak loud and proud, to speak up and kind, that’s how in Pathways goes.
They are going to pass the microphone around while you make a sound.
When the sound stops, they are going to either say something they like or say something they don’t like.
Encourage kids to speak up about things they don’t like. You can say: “Everyone has something to say. Your ideas and feelings are important, and so are your classmates’ ideas and feelings. If there is something you don’t like, you can say Please Stop! I don’t like it.
Clap every time a person ends talking.
