Where Should This Character Be?

Materials:

• Story board or pre-drawn story board templates

• Images of characters/animals from the story

• Story book or picture cards for reference

Instructions:

• Read the story together, look and talk about the characters we see

• Point out where characters appear on the page (top, bottom, left, right) (inside, behind, on top, under, next to). 

• Use pictures to recreate characters or scenes from the story.

• Encourage them to think about where each characters belongs, using positional language (i.e. bear under tree, fish inside water)

• Encourage children to talk about their pictures and explain what is happening in their story scene.

• Can you show me where you put it?

• What is happening in your picture?
