What happens when we put things in water?

Materials:

• Clear container or bin with water

• Small objects (spoon, rock, sponge, leaf, plastic toy, cork,)

• Towels for cleanup

Instructions:

1. Let your child pick an object and place it in the water.

2. Observe if it sinks or floats, and talk about what you see.

3. Sort objects into “sink” and “float” groups and discuss why.
