Where Do You Think This Object Came From? 

Materials:

• Box/Cloth bag/Pillow Case as “Surprise Bag/Box”

• Natural Items with different textures: pinecones, stones, beans, leaves, sticks, fruits/vegetables, wood or bark, feathers. 

Instructions:

• Place 4–6 nature items inside the bag.

• One at a time, reach in and feel an object without looking.

• Ask them to describe what they feel. 

• Let them guess what the item is, then pull it out to check.

• Continue around the group and items until all are revealed.

• Is it rough or smooth? Hard or Soft? 

• What does it feel like in your hand?

• Where do you think we could find this outside?

• Does this object remind you of something else you’ve touched?

• Which one feels softer/harder?

• What happens if you rub it, squeeze it, or shake it?

• How can you tell it apart from the others?

• Can you find something else that feels the same?

• How are these two objects the same? How are they different?

• What could we use this for if we were planting or playing outside?
