Materials:
Outdoor space
Chalk
(Or) Foam numbers
Instructions:
In a group of 3-4 ask children to take turns
First guide them by asking them what numbers are they jumping on
Then ask them to say the numbers as they jump on them
To make it more engaging:
Ask them to jump on specific numbers (i.e. “jump on 4”, so they would have to skip the previous numbers and try to hop straight onto number 4)
Get the children to instruct each other; taking turns and leading the game
Powerful InterACTions - PK3:
Which number do you see next?
Can you show me that number with your fingers?
What number comes after this one?
Can you teach a friend how to hop to this number?
Powerful InterACTions - PK4:
Which number is bigger? Which is smaller?
How many hops do you need to get to this number?
If you start at 2, how many more jumps to reach 5?
What else could we do with our number hopscotch?
