Instructions:
Sing the "Good Listener" song together to get the children excited and focused.
Review the steps on how to be a good listener with the good listener poster.
Act out a conversation with the puppets where they interrupt or ignore each other (like one puppet trying to talk but the other keeps talking over it or not paying attention).
Make powerful interactions of how the character feels when they do not listen to each other.
Model good conversation by showing the puppets waiting their turn to speak and listening carefully.
Ask the kids about their favorite interests. Pass around a toy microphone to each child. Let them know it’s their turn to speak when they have the microphone and everyone else will listen.
Powerful InterACTions PK3:
What does it look like when we are good listeners?
How did you feel when someone listened to you?
How can we show our friends that we are listening?
How do you feel when it is your turn to talk?
Do you feel heard?
Powerful InterACTions PK4:
How did it feel when we all listened to each other?
How can we tell if someone is listening to us?
What do you like most about when we all take turns talking?
How do you think our friends feel when we listen to them?
What happens when we don’t listen to our friends?
