Materials:
Fruits (banana, lemon, orange, pineapple, tomato) optionals.
Mild tasting items (cheese, crackers, yogurt, honey)
Small samples of spices/seasonings (salt water, paprika) choose one!
Cover kids eyes
Instructions:
Set up tasting stations with foods that represent different tastes: sweet (banana, honey), sour (lemon, green apple), salty (crackers, cheese), bitter (grapefruit), and savory (cheese, tomato).
Invite students to taste one item at a time and cleanse their palate with water between samples.
Encourage students to describe the flavor and texture using words like sweet, sour, salty, bitter, juicy, crunchy, soft, or smooth.
