Where Is the Sound Coming From?

Materials:

• Bell or shaker 

• Small drum or container 

• Sticks (for tapping) 

• Scarves or cloth (optional blindfold)

Instructions:

1. Take children to an open space or classroom area.

2. Ask them to listen carefully to sounds around them (voices, footsteps, objects moving).

3. Introduce sound directions:

• In front

• Behind

• Beside (left/right)

• Near / far

4. Make a sound using an instrument from different positions.

5. Invite children to guess:

6. “Where is the sound coming from?”

7. Enrichment: Create simple patterns:

• Left → Right → Left

• Near → Far → Near

• Front → Behind → Front

         8. Invite children to connect sound with movement:

• Bell on the right = step right 

• Drum behind = step back 

• Stick on the left = step left
