Materials:
Large sheets of colored construction paper
Pre-cut shapes (leaves, stems, petals, roots, flowers)
Yarn or string (for roots)
Popsicle sticks (for stems)
Tissue paper (for flowers)
Glue sticks
Crayons or markers
Labels or blank stickers (for writing/labeling parts)
Optional: real leaves or flowers for inspiration
Instructions:
Show a real plant or a big picture and point to each part: “roots,” “stem,” “leaves,” “flower.”
Hold up a matching picture card as you name each part.
Let children pick pre-cut shapes and materials to build their own plant collage.
As each child adds a part, say its name out loud together (“Let’s glue the stem!” “Now add the leaves!”).
When finished, review the plant parts by pointing and saying their names as a group.
Display the collages with big, teacher-written labels nearby or above each part.

Can you point to the roots on your plant?
What color are your leaves?

PK4 Questions:

How does the stem help the plant?
Can you show me all the parts of your plant?
Which part do you think helps the plant grow tall?
If you could add more flowers or leaves, where would you put them?
