Which Nature Object Makes the Loudest Sound?

Materials: 

• Leaves (dry and fresh)

• Sticks (small and safe)

• Grass

• Small stones

Instructions: 

• Take children on a nature walk. Ask them to listen carefully to sounds (wind, birds, leaves, footsteps). 

• Let them collect safe natural materials (leaves, small sticks, etc.). 

• Back in class, invite children to explore and compare sounds:

• Crumple leaves → crunching sound 🍂

• Tap sticks → clicking sound 🪵

• Rub grass → soft swishing sound 🌿

• Tap stones → ticking sound 🪨

• Encourage children to compare:

• Which sound is loud? Which is soft?

• Which material makes the strongest sound?

• Which sound do you like best? Why?

• Invite children to imitate nature sounds:

• Leaves = rustling wind 🌬️

• Sticks = animal footsteps 🐾

• Stones = rain drops 🌧️
