InterACTions:

  • Notice - The first step is paying attention to what the child is interested in.

  • Respond - Offer help or acknowledge what they are doing.

  • Name it - Help your child name what they are focused on.

  • Keep it going - Give the child a chance to respond. Is your child moving on to something new in the book? - I see you are wondering about this now…

  • Can you count how many words you hear in the title?

  • Remember when we read a book we move from left to right and from top to bottom.

  • Let’s take your floorbook out and reflect on the book. What did we learn?

  • Can you create a story about a few things you don’t like to eat?
