Ice Castles

Obj. 21b, 11e, 14b

Instructions:

Day 1:

  1. Gather your materials: Ice trays and/or other plastic containers that can be frozen that you consider adequate for your castle, sequins (learning kit), glitter and any other object you think is perfect for an ice castle!

  2. Fill the ice trays and/or other containers with your choice of decorations

  3. Fill the ice trays and/or other containers with water and stick in freezer

Day 2:

  1. Get ice out of the freezer and take out of the trays and/or containers (you may need to put some water on it to help the cubes out!).

  2. Activate your creativity and start building your ice castle.

  3. Feel free to add any other props from your house to make the castle exactly how you imagine it!

InterACTions:

  • Are you ready to be an architect today? Do you know what architects do? Let’s talk about it!

  • In designing your castle, which shapes do you want to freeze? Let’s look through what we have!

  • What decorations would you like to use?

  • Okay, now it’s time for you to design your castle. Tell me about your design. What shapes do you notice?

  • What story can you create with this castle? What could happen here? Want to bring some additional props for the story?

  • How about you draw a picture of your castle in your floorbook! You can draw a picture of your story too.

  • This is so much fun, can I try to do one with you?
