Water Measurement
Obj. 7a, 22a
Instructions:
Find a place to work outside.
Gather some containers to pour water and fill with water from around your house, make sure they are different sizes and transparent.
Gather materials from your learning kit: dropper and funnel.
Practice filling and passing the water between the different containers.
Experiment passing water in a variety of ways.
Count how many of each container can fit into another one (how many droppers can fit in a small cup, how many small cups can fit into a large cup, how many large cups can fit into a pitcher).
Have fun, ask questions and be curious!
InterACTions:
What containers would you like to use for pouring and filling water? Can you find different sized containers?
Show me how you pour water into the containers!
How do you think you can use the funnel and dropper?
Wow, I can see you are really concentrated!
Now let’s do some measuring! How many small cups do you think can fit into the big cup? Want me to count with you?
7, that’s right! Can you draw a 7 in the air?
Can you fill up a container half way? How do we know when it is half way full or all the way full? Let’s do this together!
What else do you want to measure?
I can tell you were really thinking throughout this interACTion! What other activities can you create with these materials? Do you want to add some more materials?
